01 – Bee
Bee Yourself. Let’s draw a flower surrounded by bees. Let’s draw my logo which is a flower. Well it has a big round circle in the middle, what should I do with it? The smile? Nah that’s too simple. Let’s add Bee Yourself. I’m not feeling the Yourself message… Let’s do Happy. In a funky text. But in what color? Hmm…. Pink would look nice… Pink it is then! Let’s do a basic sky with clouds. How about the sun in the corner, the same old way we used to draw it as kids? Fun!
02 – Cosmos
Cosmos? Like galaxy? I’m not feeling like drawing anything like that with the limited colors I have for this challenge… To be honest I had to google the word “cosmos”, english is my second language and sometimes I forget things too. A flower also came up… Wait, I know this flower! I painted it before, it’s a very pretty and simple flower. It’s my calling! A few of these flowers with long stems would look very lovely. And in contrast a dark background… It’s settled then!
03 – Sweet
I had to think hard to come up with anything I liked enough to actually draw it… Sweet… Candy is sweet. But what candy? Lollipop? Maybe, let’s sketch a few shapes. Hmm… I’m not feeling any of these. Apple. Candied apple? Never had it, it’s not a thing here. But it’s not a bad idea. Let’s add the word “sweet” into it, so it’s not that blank. What about the backgroun? Dark green? No, it’s too dark with the red apple. Light green it is. I decided to add a lighter wavy pattern to it so it’s not that boring.
04 – Grub
Grub? Never heard this word before. Google? Oh I see. But I don’t wanna draw that. Too complicated and I’m lazy. I don’t wanna draw a beetle eiter so… Grub is similar to caterpillars in a way, and I like butterflies… Let’s draw one because I want to! I don’t have to draw specifically the meaning of the word, right? I take it as the push to take me on a thinking journey and ending on something I’d like to draw. I’m not taking all these prompts literally, where’s the fun in that? I looked for the perfect butterfly candidate, based on how I like the looks of it. I chose the Tiger Swallowtail. Pretty wings, nice color. I decided to use green instead of black (black is not in my chosen color palette). I added the word “future” because this form is the future of the larvae.
05 – Sprig
Another word that is unfamiliar to me. Google helped me out again. It’s an easy topic. I looked at a few images to get me inspired. I knew I wanted to draw a small sprig, but of what? Sage looked great. Long leaves, so pretty. But I love eucalyptus more. I just like the shape of the leaves. A choice was made. An easy composition was sketched out. I already knew the color of the sprig. But what about the background? I needed something that will make the leaves pop. I was feeling pink… I tried it out in a thumbnail and it looked awesome!
06 – Eye
Eye…. What has an eye? I looked on google.. A riddle came up. Needle? No that’s very simple, not interesting to me. Eye… Eyes are the window to the soul. Window… Sure why not? Let’s do a nice landscape outside! Simple but nice. Pink window frames? Why not! Let’s do the walls dark to make the window pop!
